I loved Checkmate! This novella by Suzanne Halliday is a perfect way to begin to bridge Roman Bishop with his Team Justice past. It's steamy with a touch of serious and a whole lot of sweetness. That sweetness comes from one Matthew Liam James and his growing relationships with Roman and Liam. I predict he is going to be another force in the future realm of Junior Justice. Kelly and Roman have so much to look forward to with their future together and Checkmate sets them on their way.
I highly recommend that you read Bishop's Pawn prior to this book. The Justice Series books and Wilde Heart are also linked to these stories, but not required to enjoy this novella.

What an amazing novella! More Roman and Kelly?! Umm yes please! This was another homerun for Suzanne and what a way to lead into the next book and build the suspense for what's to come and the dangers ahead. I can't wait until June!
Another 5 star book!!! Kelly and Bishop's story is unfolding in a way you love and want more. These two combine with Matty, Liam, and Rhi have you laughing, crying, wanting more. I love the way Suzanne intertwines her different series and can't wait to see Kelly deal with the Justice crew
I loved Checkmate. This was a quick read as it is a novella and took us back to Roman (who I think is so hot), Kelly (who is so feisty and kicka$$) and Maddy (who is so funny and such a character at four years old) living in NYC. Also of course Liam (who also is so hot) and Rhiann (who is sassy and spirited) are also present. We meet a new member of the original Team Justice and she is a bada$$. Checkmate cannot be read as a standalone. You need to read Bishop's Pawn prior to this book in order to fully appreciate it. While this novella allows us more time with Roman and Kelly, it is also a segue to Everlasting which is the latest book in the Family Justice series releasing in June 2017. I am equally unbelievably excited and scared to death at all that is to come for Family Justice. If you enjoyed Bishop's Pawn then you will love Checkmate. If you have not read any of the Justice Brothers or Family Justice books while it is not necessary to read in order to enjoy this novella, I believe you will want to at the end of reading Checkmate because you will be so intrigued about what is happening and all things Justice. The Justice Brothers and Family Justice books are some of my all time favorite books and because Suzanne Halliday is such a tremendous storyteller, I do not believe I will ever get enough of all of the members of and all things Family Justice. (Also Liam and Rhiann are part of the Wilde Women series and while once again you do not need to read those books in order to read Checkmate it is another terrific series that I love and you will see how Rhiann and Liam get together).
So if you read Bishops pawn like me, and wanted more, this is it! Love Roman and Kelly, add cutie Matty and Liam and Rhiann and you've got a great continuation to the story, in Checkmate we see the family really start to come together, and are lead into the next family justice book...now to wait until June! Gah! but totally worth the wait!
I fell in love with Suzanne's stories when she first started writing! And each story keeps getting better!

The main themes are always love, honor, trust, hope and faith! To follow along as each couple finds each other and learns to love and cope with situations.

I love how everything builds, ups, downs, laughter and tears. I cannot wait to read the next story!
Oh my...Suzanne Halliday just keeps the good times coming! Checkmate is just full of excitement and I loved it! Matty is going to keep everyone on their toes and the introduction to a new Justice member is awesome. (Girl power!) The Justice Family and the Wilde series entertwined is going to great.

Did Bishop's Pawn leave you clamoring for more? Did you need to know what happened in Roman, Kelly and Matty's story? I certainly did. And Suzanne Halliday heard us and gave us Checkmate, a novella that follow them in New York as they get to know Liam and Rhiann. As with any Halliday story, it has Alpha men, strong and independent women with snark and in this one a cuteness factor of 4 year old Matty who knows more than the adults that family is made of people who love one another not necessarily people with the same blood. This book brings the sarcasm and the heat. Whew!!! Thanks Suzanne Halliday for this May suprise. Looking forward to the next Family Justice book and learning more about the newest Justice operative, Domineau.
