Relive the Moment When the Bruins Won It All!

After thirty-nine torturous, winless years, the Bruins finally returned home with their prize - but bringing the Stanley Cup back to Boston was no easy feat.

The heated series, arguably the scrappiest in play off history, took a toll on the Black and Gold and their fans. Brutal hits and at-the-buzzer losses were enough to wane anyone's faith. Fans couldn't help but cringe as they watched their favorite team repeat their history of nightmarish defeats. 2011 was not going to be the year for them.

Yet, the Bruins somehow pulled through, winning four out of the last five playoff games including a thrilling shut-out in Game 7. Not only did the Bruins fulfill their incredible wish, but they also won recognition as the only NHL team to ever win three games en route to the Stanley Cup.

Bruin Redemption captures every moment of the Bruins' journey toward victory. With an in-depth background of the team's struggles and thrilling snapshots of the games leading up to the big win, readers will want to relive this unforgettable ride again and again.

Bruin Redemption The Stanley Cup Returns to Boston eBook Alan Hahn

This book was an easy read but it didn't really bring anything new to the table. It was really just a recap of the Bruins playoff run. It is apparently an unauthorized history (says so on the cover). The main drawback to this unauthorized status is that it doesn't include any interviews of the participants. One of the best hockey championship books I've read is "Losing the Edge" by Barry Meisel. Meisel sets the stage for the season, describes what is going on in the lockerroom, and what is happening on the ice. Meisel brought a lot of insider comments to the story. Bruin Redemption mostly just recaps the events of the games. It does a nice job of that but it left me wanting more back story. Bruin Redemption is mostly just a quality recap of the Bruins season with a couple of obvious conclusions made-- putting to bed the choke vs the Flyers in 2010, the trade for Horton was a good one, Tyler Seguin made a huge splash when he got into the playoffs.

Bruin Redemption is a quick read and a fun read (since the playoffs are still fresh in my head). There are a couple of items that would have been resolved just by waiting a couple of months before publishing (i.e. will Roloson retire in Tamp?a) and a couple of typos such best player "Ryan Kelser" of Vancouver. I gave it 3 stars since while it is not a hockey classic, it is well-written and a free hockey book.

Quick read.....will bring back memories for Bruins fans......No mention of much outside the actual hockey games......Where are the Vancouver riots?

Great book about a great team!
Tells a great story about how the bruins won the cup. A must buy for bruins fans. Go Boston bruins make it so they have to publish another book like this.
When this book was listed as a freebie for , I jumped all over it, with high expectations for interesting anecdotes, quips, and other inside information not previously given to the media during the Bruins Stanley Cup run. At very least, I expected a few exclusive player interviews or quotes. What I got was none of that. This book is quite literally just the facts of the Bruins rise to Stanley Cup championships. All of the material in the book could have been gotten elsewhere, and in fact, much of it was, as many quotes are attributed to newspapers and the like. This book just brings nothing new and original to the table.

More than that, this book lacks emotion. For anyone who watched the NHL playoffs this year, they know that each series was erupting with emotion. Hahn captures none of it. It read like a police bulletin..."just the facts ma'am..."

Two stars for at least being factually correct. But don't bother if you saw the series or even watched the DVD afterwards; you'll be disappointed.
